This course will give you greater insight into what incontinence is and the treatments available to manage incontinence. You will explore the social, financial and emotional impacts of incontinence. You will explore the different types of urinary incontinence and what may lead to each type.

You will gain knowledge on catheters and how to care for catheters during day-to-day activities. Then you will move onto looking at faecal incontinence and what the emotional and social impacts can be and how carers can facilitate people to feel more comfortable within themselves.

You will also explore the management options available for those with incontinence and the possible treatment routes available for those living with faecal or urinary incontinence.

In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.

You will earn 3 CPD points on completion of the course, this course will take around 3 hours to complete and the certificate will last for two years.

Urinary Incontinence

This unit will explore the different types of urinary incontinence, what a urinary catheter is, the types available and why one may be required. This unit will finish by covering the possible complications of a urinary catheter and UTIs.

Bowel Incontinence

This unit will explore what bowel incontinence is and what types exist, the conditions that are most associated with bowel incontinence, the impacts of bowel incontinence and what stoma bags are and why they may be used.

Treatment and Support

In the final unit of the incontinence and catheter care course, you will explore the treatment and management options available for those with incontinence, including self-management strategies, treatment options, useful support services and online support.
