Unit 3 explores how autism is recognised, assessed, and diagnosed today. It explains why Asperger syndrome is no longer diagnosed separately, the importance of recognition and assessment, factors that can affect diagnosis, and how person-centred support can be provided before and after diagnosis.

Support, Inclusion and Everyday Practice

This final unit explores practical ways to support people who may have an existing Asperger syndrome diagnosis or identify with the former Asperger profile. It covers person-centred support, clear communication, sensory needs, routines, emotional wellbeing, reasonable adjustments, and creating inclusive environments that reduce barriers and promote participation.
