This course will also cover the elements set out by Ofsted to assess how schools should be evidencing their anti-bullying policies.

Our understanding bullying course is perfect for professionals in the education setting, including nursery practitioners, teachers, teaching assistant and school counselors.

This course covers everything you need to know on bullying from what it is, why it happens, the types of bullying, how to prevent bullying, how to support those bullying and being bullied, right through to supporting parents and making sure your anti-bullying policy is up to date.

You will finish this course feeling more confident in being able to deal with bullying and will now know key points on how to prevent bullying.

In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.

You will earn 3 CPD points on completion of the course, this course will take around 3 hours to complete and the certificate will last for two years.

Units covered

  • Unit 1 – Introduction to bullying – In our first unit you will be introduced to bullying, including what bullying is and who bullies usually target. You will also consider why bullying happens and the different types of bullying that can occur.
  • Unit 2 – How to prevent bulling – Here you will learn what the practitioner’s role is in helping children develop, how to help them stand up for themselves as well as how to prevent bullying and educate children on why bullying is wrong. The unit will finish by covering what the signs are of bullying in a school setting.
  • Unit 3 – Identifying and assessing risks – Next you will explore in detail what cyber-bullying is, where it takes place and what it can consist of. The unit will finish by looking at what the signs are that someone is being cyber-bullied and what to do when cyber-bullying happens.
  • Unit 4 – Why does bullying happen? – In this unit you will start off by looking at the short and long term effects of bullying for those that do the bullying and those that are the victim of bullying. You will then move onto looking at the roles involved in bullying and will consider the 10 key principles in preventing bullying.
  • Unit 5 – Supporting everyone effected by bullying – In our final unit you will consider how parents and teachers can help with bullying and why introducing peer support schemes in the school setting can have positive effects. The unit will finish by exploring the legislation that is in place, as well as what framework Ofsted follow when inspecting schools.
