All about this Dyspraxia Awareness Course

This dyspraxia awareness course will go into detail about how dyspraxia, directly and indirectly, affects different areas of life, with a focus on school life in particular, making recommendations for improved methods of support. You will also learn about the processes for treatment and support.

You will also learn about the possible causes for dyspraxia, UK statistics and the common misconceptions about dyspraxia. You will also explore how dyspraxia can affect different areas of life, including school, social life, work and mental health.

You will move onto looking at techniques parents, families, teachers and teaching assistants can use when working or living with a child with dyspraxia. The role of different professionals that may be involved in the child’s plan of care will be outlined too.

In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.

You will earn 3 CPD points on completion of the course, this course will take around 3 hours to complete and the certificate will last for two years.

Units covered

  • Unit 1 – Introduction to Dyspraxia Awareness – In the first unit of the dyspraxia awareness course you will understand what dyspraxia is and the main characteristics of the different types of dyspraxia.
  • Unit 2 – Signs and Symptoms – In this unit you will gain greater knowledge on the signs and symptoms of dyspraxia and the differences in symptoms between babies and infants, children and adults. This unit will also include a case study of a child suffering from dyspraxia.
  • Unit 3 – Reading, Spelling, Handwriting, Speech and Language – This unit will examine how you can support children with dyspraxia in different affected areas of their lives. Including with reading, spelling, handwriting, speech and language.
  • Unit 4 – Diagnosis, Treatment and Support – In the final unit of the dyspraxia awareness course you will learn how a diagnosis of dyspraxia is made, you will also consider the different treatments that are available to help children who are living with dyspraxia.
