All about this Duty of Care Course
There is a duty of care in every type of work, all employers and employees have a duty of care. This can be for their customers, members of the public or their colleagues. In health and social care, care providers have a duty of care to the people who use their services, their employees, stakeholders, external professionals and members of the public.
Health and social care staff may have differing levels of duty of care depending on their role and responsibilities. All staff will have a duty of care to the people receiving care and to their colleagues.
In this course you will explore Duty of Care in more detail, including in terms of the Code of Conduct for Health and Social Care Staff, you will explore the 7 Standards. You will explore the principles of implementing Duty of Care and will look at two case studies illustrating how different settings can meet Duty of Care Requirements.
You will look at Policies and Procedures relating to Duty of Care, what should be in place, the importance of keeping policies and procedures up to date and what should be included in policies.
You will review the Do’s and Don’ts of managing incidents, near misses and errors, before looking at some examples of the types of incidents, near misses and errors you could come across.
In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.
You will earn 3 CPD points on completion of the course, this course will take around 3 hours to complete and the certificate will last for two years.
