At the start of the course you will be introduced to the structure of the brain and how it functions, as well as statistics on acquired brain injuries in adults and children. You will then learn the complications and conditions that cause acquired brain injuries, as well as the risk factors for these causes and the course will outline the presenting symptoms. You will also gain an understanding of the impacts of an acquired brain injury.

You will also explore how the ongoing effects of an acquired brain injury can be helped with rehabilitation from a multidisciplinary team. The course will finish by covering how family and close friends can support someone with an acquired brain injury, as well as covering the legal and financial aspects of living with an acquired brain injury.   • Unit 5 – Supporting Someone with an Acquired Brain Injury – In the final unit of the acquired brain injuries course, you will explore how to support someone with an acquired brain injury and what support is available to those caring for them.
