All about this Safeguarding Children with Disabilities Course
This course is designed for people who are involved in the care of children and young people with disabilities in any capacity. This can include nursery workers, teachers, teaching assistants, tutors, youth workers, social workers, nursing staff and hospital staff, respite care workers, carers and foster carers. By understanding safeguarding principles through this course, you can help protect vulnerable children from harm.
You will start the course off by exploring why safeguarding is important, whose responsibility it is to safeguard children with disabilities and what could happen if safeguarding procedures are not carried out. You will also look at reasons why children with disabilities are more vulnerable to abuse.
You will also explore the different types of disabilities and the impact of a disability on the child, their family members and older children. You will explore the different kinds of abuse and the critical aspects of recognising, preventing and addressing abuse in children with disabilities.
You will finish the course by exploring how to respond to abuse, talking to children with disabilities, disclosures, recording and reporting concerns, sharing information and consent to share.
In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.
You will earn 3 CPD points on completion of the course, this course will take around 3 hours to complete and the certificate will last for three years.

In the final unit of the safeguarding children with disabilities course you will explore the important aspect of how to respond to suspected abuse, handle disclosures and maintain accurate records.
