All about this Safeguarding Adults Level 1 Course

This safeguarding adults level 1 course will give an overview of safeguarding and the correct procedures needed to ensure the safety and dignity of adults who may be considered vulnerable. This course is suitable for those new to roles working with vulnerable adults. More experienced professionals may find taking the Safeguarding Adults Level 2 or Level 3 training more suitable.

The terms vulnerable adult and safeguarding will be explored, as well as who is responsible for maintaining safeguarding values within a workplace. The types of risk factors that can put an individual in an increasingly vulnerable situation will be discussed, as well as how these risk factors increase the risk of abuse or neglect.

You will also explore the ten types of abuse, which are physical abuse, domestic violence or abuse, sexual abuse, psychological or emotional abuse, financial abuse, modern slavery, discriminatory abuse, institutional abuse, neglect or acts of omission and self-neglect. You will also explore the indicators that these types of abuse are taking place.

You will finish the course by exploring how to raise or respond to concerns you may have or respond to disclosures of harm, the role of confidentiality in reporting and recording concerns or disclosures and how to correctly record concerns or disclosures of harm.

In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.

You will earn 2 CPD points on completion of the course, this course will take around 2 hours to complete and the certificate will last for two years.

Units covered

  • Unit 1 – Introduction to Safeguarding Adults – The first unit of our safeguarding adults level 1 course will provide the fundamental knowledge needed to understand what safeguarding is and why it is important.
  • Unit 2 – The Risk Factors for Abuse -In this unit definitions of the different types of harm will be clarified and the factors that increase the risk of them being inflicted upon an individual will be discussed.
  • Unit 3 – Types and Signs of Abuse – This unit will explore the ten types of abuse you may encounter and the indicators they are taking place. Including physical abuse, domestic abuse, sexual abuse, psychological abuse, financial abuse, etc.
  • Unit 4 – Responding, Reporting and Recording – In the final unit of the safeguarding adults level 1 course you will explore your responsibilities to an individual when you may suspect harm or if they disclose harm.
