Method Statement Awareness
On completion of the course, students will gain an understanding of method statements and the purpose of these documents in meeting regulatory requirements in many different industries. You will explore how specific project’s and tasks should be carried out to ensure workplace safety.
We will cover what is included in a method statement, the different types of method statements and the essential components that make up a method statement, including what is required in the different stages and who is involved.
You will learn about the differences between a method statement and risk assessment and explore how to conduct and implement a risk assessment. You will learn about the purpose of the RAMS document and the elements included which ensure all employees work safely.
We will cover how to implement and adapt a method statement and best practices for maintaining method statements. You will also about the importance effective record keeping and communication logs, regular audits and inspections.
In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.
You will earn 3 CPD points on completion of the course, this course will take around 3 hours to complete and the certificate will last for two years.

- Unit 1 – Introduction to Method Statement Awareness – In the first unit of Method Statement Awareness we will cover what a method statement is, the different types and their significance in ensuring safe work practices.
- Unit 2 – How to develop a Method Statement – In this unit we will consider the essential components that make up a Method Statement, the different types, what to include and who is involved in the process.
- Unit 3 – The difference between a Risk Assessment and a method Statement – In the third unit we will focus on the differences between a risk assessment and a Method Statement and the importance of conducting and implementing a risk assessment and what is involved in the process.
- Unit 4 – Using and maintaining a Method Statement – In the final unit we will cover how to implement and adapt a Method Statement and the best practices for maintaining Method Statements to ensure they remain up to date and aligned with evolving safety standards and regulations.
