All about this Introduction to Pressure Systems and Equipment course
On completion of the course, students will gain knowledge about pressure systems and equipment that are found in workplaces. This course will cover what they are, the types available and their uses. Students will learn about the various instruments that are used to measure pressure and the pressure system categories.
Students will learn about hazards and risks, what they are and what can happen if a pressure system fails. The course will cover fire hazards in relation to pressure systems, risk assessments and pressure related accidents and incidents.
Students will go on to learn about the health and safety at work etc. Act.1974 and the pressure systems safety regulations 2000. We will cover protective devices, PUWER and what can result from prosecutions under health and safety legislation.
The course will cover the hierarchy of hazard controls, the use of lower-pressure systems. Students will explore the responsibilities of a competent person and be introduced to (WSE) written scheme of examination. Finally students will learn about the maintenance of pressure systems and emergency procedures.
In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.

Introduction to pressure systems and equipment
In the first unit students will be introduced to pressure systems and equipment and consider what they are. You will examine pressure, how it is calculated and why it can be dangerous. This unit will also provide an overview of statistics and case studies relating to pressure systems and equipment.
Hazards and risks
In the second unit students will have an introduction to pressure systems hazards and risks and learn what these terms mean. We will cover the hazards and risks associated with pressure systems, equipment and vessels. Students will look at risk assessments and preventing accidents at work.
Pressure systems and equipment laws
In the third unit students will be introduced to laws surrounding pressure systems and equipment at work. We will cover general health and safety legislation and the laws specific to pressure systems and equipment. Students will look at the enforcement duty holders.
Controlling and reducing risks
In the final unit students will have an introduction to preventing, controlling and reducing the risks associated with pressure systems and equipment in the workplace. This unit will explore the hierarchy of hazard controls and consider what duty holders must do regarding operating, inspection, maintenance, servicing , modifying and repairing pressure systems and equipment.
