All about this Health and Safety for Homeworkers Course
This course is suitable for homeworkers, who need to know about health and safety. You will learn what is meant by health and safety and why it is important, you will also learn about some of the hazard’s homeworkers may encounter in the homeworking environment and about assessing risks.
You will also gain knowledge on the laws relating to homeworking health and safety, including the responsibilities of employers and employees. You will also consider some electrical and fire safety measures that homeworkers can adopt to keep themselves and others safe whilst working from home.
You will move onto looking at the risks associated with display screen equipment and manual handling, including slips, trips and falls, working at height and other environmental factors, you will then look at ways to reduce the risk of ill health and injury.
You will also look at the hazards associated with hazardous and dangerous substances and consider how to mange the risks in a homeworking environment.
Finally at the end of the unit you will explore what happens if a homeworker has an accident, including first aid measures and reporting internally and externally, as well as considering how stress-related risks can be managed in a homeworking environment and you will look at monitoring, communication and feedback.
In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.
You will earn 3 CPD points on completion of the course, this course will take around 3 hours to complete and the certificate will last for two years.

In the first unit of the health and safety for homeworkers course, you will be introduced to homeworking and health and safety. You will also consider what homeworking is and who are homeworkers.
Fire and Electrical Safety
This unit will look at the electrical and fire safety risks associated with homeworking and how to control them. You will learn about the employer and employee responsibilities regarding electrical and fire safety in a homeworking environment.
Manual Handling, DSE and the Working Environment
This unit will look at the risks associated with display screen equipment and manual handling, you will also explore the law surrounding DSE and manual handling.
Lone Working, COSHH and DSEAR
You will be introduced to the risks associated with lone working, COSHH and DSEAR. Including the lone working hazards homeworkers may face and some examples of precautions that can reduce the risk.
First Aid, RIDDOR, Wellbeing and Monitoring
In the final unit of the health and safety for homeworking course you will look at some additional health and safety considerations for homeworkers, including first aid, RIDDOR, wellbeing and monitoring.
