All about Health and safety for Disability at Work course
On completion of the course, students will gain an understanding of health and safety for disability at work, covering the responsibilities employers and others have regarding health and safety for disability at work, the legal requirements, ways to prevent and reduce the risks and reasonable adjustments.
Students will learn about risk assessments, the five steps involved in a risk assessment and the hierarchy of hazard controls. We will also cover other workplace assessments that are required by law.
You will explore the laws relating to health and safety and disability in the workplace. You will learn about legislation that protects disabled workers from discrimination at work and applicable health and safety laws. You will also consider the enforcement duty holders can face for non-compliance with the law and look at case studies.
Students will learn about the barriers disabled people face and look at reasonable adjustments and consider how to promote inclusivity with health and safety. We will explore the importance of emergency procedures and personal emergency evacuation plans for those with disabilities at work.
In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.
You will earn 3 CPD points on completion of the course, this course will take around 3 hours to complete and the certificate will last for two years.

Units covered
- Unit 1 – Course Introduction – In the first unit students will explore classification and the definition of disability. Students will learn about the advantages of hiring disabled workers, the responsibilities of employers to employees and others including those with a disability.
- Unit 2 – Assessing and mitigating the risks – In this unit we will examine risk assessments, the five steps to a risk assessment and the hierarchy of hazard controls. You will also cover other assessments that are required by law.
- Unit 3 – Legal Compliance – In the third unit, will be introduced to the laws relating to health and safety and disability in the workplace. You will explore some legislation that protects disabled workers from discrimination at work and applicable health and safety laws.
- Unit 4 – Introduction – In the final unit, you will have an introduction to ensuring disabled workers have a safe and healthy working environment and supportive workplace. You will explore some of the barriers disabled people face, and we will also explore reasonable adjustments and look at some examples relating to health and safety.
