- Unit 1 – Introduction – In the first unit of asthma training for schools we will provide an introduction to asthma, its causes and triggers and signs and symptoms as well as the impact of asthma on students.
- Unit 2 – Asthma management and prevention – In this unit we will explore the key aspects of asthma management and prevention in schools. We will focus on practical strategies to empower schools workers to manage asthma effectively. This unit will also focus on asthma action plans, medication and in halers.
- Unit 3 – Responding to asthma emergencies – In the third unit we will learn about responding to asthma emergencies , recognizing an asthma attack and providing first aid. We will also explore the proper techniques for administering reliever inhalers and spacers.
- Unit 4 – Supporting students with asthma – In the final unit you will learn how to develop an individualized asthma care plan and how to educate students about self management. We will also cover communication with parents and healthcare providers as well as promoting asthma awareness in the school setting.
